Islam's world wide terror domination News

1) US counter-terror authorities fear major campaign in Europe, possibly even 9/11-scale mega-attack in America presaged by failed London and Glasgow bombings
DEBKAFILE - July 2, 2007DEBKAfile counter-terror sources report that ten days ago, the US gave the Czech government specific warning of large-scale al Qaeda terrorist attacks in Prague, targeting government buildings, the US embassy, American firms and Jewish and Israel locations in the Czech capital. All American missions and military facilities in Europe were placed on alert.France, Germany, Italy, Denmark and Spain have also tightened their anti-terror precautions. Our sources add that the London and Glasgow bombing attempts took the Americans by surprise. They had expected the jihadists to strike elsewhere in Europe. US homeland security secretary Michael Chertoff Monday played down the threat by denying knowledge of any specific warning in the United States. He said the current alert level of yellow would not be raised for now as it has been in the UK. However, al Qaeda's coded messages on internal forums announcing that preparations are now in place for attacks in the US during this summer are appearing with greater frequency than the traffic prior to the 2001 attacks in America and the 2004 Madrid rail bombings. - - -Chertoff spoke of increasing concerns about "the movement of Europeans, including people with European citizenship, into areas of South Asia to get trained and get experience and then coming back to carry out operations in Europe or in the United States using Europe as a departure point."

2) More London bombings on way, warns Muslim
UK Islamist leader claims Brits ready to carry out 'many attacks'WORLDNETDAILY - By Aaron Klein - July 2, 2007JERUSALEM - The thwarted car bombings in London last week and the terror attack against Scotland's busiest airport were "completely justified" and likely the beginning of many more attacks in Britain, a prominent UK Islamist leader connected to terror supporting groups told WND yesterday. "There is no doubt whatsoever that there will continue to be attacks against the British government, its interests and the home front as long as we see the continued British and American occupation of Muslim land in Iraq and Afghanistan, support for criminal Israel, and draconian measures taken against Muslims in the UK," said Anjem Choudary, founder and former chief of two Islamic groups disbanded by the British authorities under antiterror legislation. "A war is being waged against Muslims on every level. There are many in Britain who take their ideology from Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida and are ready to carry out many more attacks," Choudary said.Choudary said the attempted terror attacks the past few days were "probably carried out by local British Muslims." Choudary currently presents himself as an Islamic lecturer and a leader of Britain's Shariah Islamic court. He is a founder and former chief of Al Muhajiroun, a British group that sought to impose an Islamic state on the UK and that was allied with the goals of al- Qaida. Al Muhajiroun, officially disbanded by the British government citing antiterrorism laws in 2004, and its main leader, Omar Bakri Muhammad, were banned from the UK in 2005. Choudary then became a leader of Al Ghurabaa, which was reportedly a continuation of Al Muhajiroun. Al Ghurabaa was banned in 2006 by the UK for reportedly supporting terrorism. Former Al Muhajiroun members led by Choudary reportedly continue their activism at public protests and on Internet forums under a new banner group called Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah. - - - -

3) Secret Document: U.S. Fears Terror 'Spectacular' Planned
Official Cites Resemblance to Warnings and Intelligence Before 9/11ABC NEWS [America] - THE BLOTTER Blog - By Brian Ross, Rhonda Schwartz and Richard Esposito - July 1, 2007A secret U.S. law enforcement report, prepared for the Department of Homeland Security, warns that al Qaeda is planning a terror "spectacular" this summer, according to a senior official with access to the document."This is reminiscent of the warnings and intelligence we were getting in the summer of 2001," the official told ABCNews.com.U.S. officials have kept the information secret, and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said today on ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" that the United States did not have "have any specific credible evidence that there's an attack focused on the United States at this point."As ABCNews.com reported, U.S. law enforcement officials received intelligence reports two weeks ago warning of terror attacks in Glasgow and Prague, the Czech Republic, against "airport infrastructure and aircraft."The warnings apparently never reached officials in Scotland, who said this weekend they had received "no advance intelligence" that Glasgow might be a target.Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff declined to comment specifically on on the report today, but said "everything that we get is shared virtually instantaneously with our counterparts in Britain and vice versa."Unlike the United States, officials in Germany have publicly warned that the country could face a major attack this summer, also comparing the situation to the pre-9/11 summer of 2001.AlsoThis Brief also appears on DEBKAfile's main Page DEBKAFILE - June 29, 2007A message on a jihadist forum saying: "Today I say: Rejoice, by Allah, London shall be bombed" appeared 17 hours before the first bomb car was found in Haymarket London early FridayArticle Link

NBC NEWS [America] - By NBC News and news services - July 1, 2007LONDON - British security sources tell NBC News that two of the five suspects in custody in connection with three recent terror incidents in Scotland and London are medical doctors and one may have assembled the bombs. Authorities also said they believe that most, if not all, of the suspects come from Middle Eastern countries, including one from Iraq.On Sunday, British police appealed for help in tracing movements of a green Jeep Cherokee in the days before it rammed an airport terminal in Glasgow on Saturday. The driver of the vehicle, who set himself on fire, remained in critical condition. The attack came 36 hours after police found two Mercedes car bombs packed with fuel canisters, propane tanks and nails parked near a crowded nightclub in London's teeming theatre district.Police say the London and Scotland incidents are linked. On Sunday they raided a house in an affluent suburb about 10 minutes from the Glasgow airport, where neighbors said two Asian men had moved in just weeks ago. Most of the Asian population in Britain comes from the sub-continent, including India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. - - - -AlsoBomb at Ancient Yemeni Temple Kills 8 ASSOCIATED PRESS - July 2, 2007SAN'A, Yemen - A suicide car bomber blew himself up Monday at the site of an ancient temple popular with tourists, killing eight people and wounding seven, police said. The other two were Yemenis, police said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media. 5) 'UK jihadis threaten Israel'
Senior House of Lords member says Britain has 'been deeply infiltrated by radical Islam'YEDIOTH AHRONOTH (YnetNews) - By Yaakov Lappin - May 31, 2007Radicalized British Muslims continue to pose a security threat to Israel, a senior member of the House of Lords told Ynetnews on Thursday. - - - "Britain has become a base for training and teaching militant Islam," Cox declared, adding that moderate Muslims who opposed extremism faced threats and a harsh campaign to silence them. Dr Marks warned that "radical groups are multiplying and continuing to recruit ." Arguing that "Britain has been deeply infiltrated," Cox cited the case of Salah Idris, who owned a Sudanese pharmaceutical factory destroyed by the US in the late 1990s after it was linked with al-Qaeda activity. Idris is also a shareholder in two high-tech security firms that provide security for the British parliament, UK military bases, and 11 nuclear installations. "When we brought this matter to the attention of the authorities, we were told there was no cause for concern," Cox said, adding that Idris continued to be involved with the security firms. Marks said Britain's Jewish community was also under threat. "I wish they would do more to inform the rest of society of the threat they face," he added. "But in general, the threat is indiscriminate," Cox remarked. Muslims schools in Britain 'like Hamas schools'Textbooks being used in Saudi-funded Muslim schools in Britain contained the "same anti-Semitic texts based on the Koran that you find in Palestinian Hamas schools," Marks noted. Cox quoted a senior British bishop as saying that "most of our educational institutions have been infiltrated," and said university campuses were prime recruitment grounds for Islamist groups. - - -New battleground: Plans for a mega-mosque in London"The feeling is that we are all the time putting out fires," Cox said. She discussed proposals to construct a gigantic mosque in east London which would house 70,000 people in prayer. "The symbolism of the mosque is clear, it dominates over its surroundings, which submit to it," Cox said. - - -"We need to wake up, draw a line in the sand, and say enough is enough," she said, adding that "Britain's cultural and spiritual heritage are under threat." - - - -

6) Why London and Sderot Alike Are Not Safe from Jihadist Terror
DEBKAFILE - May 27, 2007- - - While Britain grants admission to the spokesman of one of the most brutal and destructive terrorist groups in the world and honors him alongside noted British writers, scholars, political leaders and self- styled peace campaigners, the Israeli prime minister tosses out empty words and conducts a misdirected air campaign, which failed in Lebanon to stop Hizballah rockets, in a vain effort to halt Hamas' vicious missile campaign against Israeli civilians. As long as people like Ghazi Hamad are made welcome at British literary festivals, there is little hope for Alan Johnston or the Israeli soldier Gilead Shalit, both kidnapped by the same nihilist al Qaeda-Hamas gangs. Neither will the UK be safe from jihadist terrorists, or Sderot live like a normal town.Interestingly, leading UK organizations dish out the reverse treatment to the very people Hamas has singled out for destruction. British academic, medical and architectural groups have eagerly embraced a boycott of their Israeli colleagues - not to mention the Church of England's divestment campaign. These arbiters of political morality generously offer Israeli academics and professionals a chance to avoid being blacklisted by disowning their government's policies.

7) Exclusive: Suicide Bomb Teams Sent to U.S., Europe
ABC NEWS [America] - THE BLOTTER Blog - Reported by Brian Ross - June 18, 2007Large teams of newly trained suicide bombers are being sent to the United States and Europe, according to evidence contained on a new videotape obtained by the Blotter on ABCNews.com.Teams assigned to carry out attacks in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Germany were introduced at an al Qaeda/Taliban training camp graduation ceremony held June 9. A Pakistani journalist was invited to attend and take pictures as some 300 recruits, including boys as young as 12, were supposedly sent off on their suicide missions. The tape shows Taliban military commander Mansoor Dadullah, whose brother was killed by the U.S. last month, introducing and congratulating each team as they stood. "These Americans, Canadians, British and Germans come here to Afghanistan from faraway places," Dadullah says on the tape. "Why shouldn't we go after them?"The leader of the team assigned to attack Great Britain spoke in English."So let me say something about why we are going, along with my team, for a suicide attack in Britain," he said. "Whether my colleagues, companions and Muslim brothers die today or tonight, every drop of our blood will invigorate the Muslim (unintelligible)."U.S. intelligence officials described the event as another example of "an aggressive and sophisticated propaganda campaign."Others take it very seriously. "It doesn't take too many who are willing to actually do it and be able to slip through the net and get into the United States or England and cause a lot of damage," said ABC News consultant Richard Clarke, the former White House counterterrorism official.

8) Salman Rushdie and British Backbone
NEW YORK SUN - By Daniel Pipes - June 26, 2007Is the knighting of Salman Rushdie, 60, by the queen of England "a sign of the changing mood" toward British Muslims, as Observer columnist Nick Cohen wrote? Is it "a welcome example of --- British backbone," as Islamism specialist Sadanand Dhume described it in the Wall Street Journal?I think not. Rather, the knighting, announced June 16, was done without heed of its implications. Most of the uproar against the honor is taking place in Pakistan, as it did in 1988, when Sir Salman's novel, The Satanic Verses, was initially published. "We deplore the decision of the British government to knight him," a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said The lower house of parliament unanimously passed a government-backed resolution calling Rushdie a "blasphemer."Most extraordinarily, Pakistan's minister of religious affairs, Mohammed Ijaz ul-Haq, endorsed suicide bombing against the United Kingdom. "If someone exploded a bomb on his body, he would be right to do so unless the British government apologizes and withdraws the 'sir' title." Ijaz ul-Haq later added that "If someone commits suicide bombing to protect the honor of the Prophet Muhammad, his act is justified."A trade union offered a $160,000 reward to anyone who beheads Rushdie. Iran's speaker of parliament, Gholamali Haddadadel, threatened that Muslims "will not leave this imprudent and shameless act without response."Such reactions from on-high spurred Islamists to the streets in many cities, including London's, burning effigies of Rushdie and Queen Elizabeth and chanting slogans such as "Death to Rushdie! Death to the queen!" - - - -Read Full Report Posted on the M oriel Ministries Website

9) London mayor defends Muslims as bomb plot foiled
AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE - June 30, 2007LONDON - London Mayor Ken Livingstone called on Britons Saturday not to demonize Muslims after a double car bomb plot was foiled in the capital, amid fears of a Islamist terror threat. At the same time he criticized Britain over its ties with Saudi Arabia, which he said had fuelled intolerance in the past through its Wahhabist form of Islam, creating a "major problem.""In this city, Muslims are more likely to be law-abiding than non-Muslims and less likely to support the use of violence to achieve political ends than non-Muslims," he told BBC Radio."They have played a good and active and growing role in creating a multi-cultural society," he added. - - - -AlsoAl-Qaeda's car bomb guide YEDIOTH AHRONOTH (YnetNews) - By Yaakov Lappin - July 1, 2007The three botched terror attacks launched in Britain in the past 72 hours bear all the hallmarks of first-time British-born jihadis attempting to emulate al-Qaeda in Iraq. Multiple car bombs designed to slaughter hundreds of civilians and strikes against critical infrastructure are daily events in Baghdad, and al-Qaeda in Iraq has decided to put its experience in mass murder on the internet for the benefit of its members around the world, in the form of an online training course on bomb attacks. The bombing manual, available in Arabic on a jihadi website, contains a number of key pieces of advice for car bombers. It instructs terrorists not to park their vehicles illegally, and advises the car bomber to leave the scene quietly, if he plans to detonate the vehicle from a distance, in what al-Qaeda terms "non- martyrdom operations." - - - -Read Full ReportMuslims' Veils Test Limits of Britain's Tolerance NEW YORK TIMES - By Jane Perlez - June 22, 2007LONDON, June 16 - Increasingly, Muslim women in Britain take their children to school and run errands covered head to toe in flowing black gowns that allow only a slit for their eyes. - - -Their appearance, like little else, has unnerved other Britons, testing the limits of tolerance here and fueling the debate over the role of Muslims in British life. Many veiled women say they are targets of abuse. Meanwhile, there are growing efforts to place legal curbs on the full-face Muslim veil, known as the niqab. There have been numerous examples in the past year. A lawyer dressed in a niqab was told by an immigration judge that she could not represent a client because, he said, he could not hear her. A teacher wearing a niqab was dismissed from her school. A student who was barred from wearing a niqab took her case to the courts, and lost. In reaction, the British educational authorities are proposing a ban on the niqab in schools altogether. - - - -Read Full Report

10) Senior Al-Qaeda Sheikh: 'May Allah Send Someone Who Will Kill Them Even More [Savagely] --- Tear Their Hearts Out --- Cut Their Heads Off, Tear Them Limb From Limb, and Shed Their Blood in Rivers'
THE MIDDLE EAST MEDIA RESEARCH INSTITUTE (MEMRI) - Special Dispatch Series - No. 1635 - June 27, 2007The April-May 2007 issue of the jihadi e-magazine Sada Al-Jihad, published by the Global Islamic Media Front (GIMF), includes an article by Sheikh Hussein bin Mahmoud [1] titled "Let Them Find Ruthlessness in You," in which he criticizes the Muslims for being too lenient in their war against their enemies. Bin Mahmoud states that Allah commanded the Muslims to fight their enemies fiercely, without compassion or mercy, and uses Koranic verses to back up his assertions. He extols the example of Abu Mus'ab Al- Zarqawi, who cut off the infidels' heads and struck terror in their hearts. The following are excerpts from the article: "When --- Al-Zarqawi Went Out and Slaughtered a Few Infidels, the [Advocates of] Tolerance and Friendship Had a Fit""The way of [waging] jihad changes according to the [available] means, innovations, ploys and practices. Over the history of Islamic conquests, jihad was [waged] according to these [changing] general principles --- which we cannot enumerate here fully. We can, however, mention one aspect which our [Islamic] nation is now in dire need of, since many Muslims today have a distorted [understanding] of Islamic principles and tenets, due to [the influence of] the enemy, or due to [the influence] of some Muslims whose spirit has been defeated --- and they have begun to distort the [true] meaning of Koranic verses on [the pretext of] rationalism, moderateness, a civilized [outlook], or similar notions. These notions have lost their [true] meaning and have become synonymous with defeat, withdrawal, impotence and falsification of the truths of Islamic shari'a. "The aspect that Muslims must accept is that of ruthlessness and firmness in jihad. Many Muslims today are educated in a spirit that is far from the [true] spirit of the Koran --- The Muslim nation is the strongest nation in history --- since it has the mightiest prophet, the mightiest book [i.e., the Koran] and the mightiest religion on Earth, and it is the nation which strikes its enemies hardest, [since it fights them] according to Islamic shari'a. Owing to these qualities, [the Muslim nation] is the most awe-inspiring of nations, and nobody [dares to] covet [what belongs to it], as long as it adheres to its principles and to the sources of its strength, which are the Koran and the sunna. "It is no exaggeration to say that many Muslims today have never heard of the Koranic verses [that speak of] jihad... and do not believe that the Koran includes verses that speak of force, firmness, terror and cruelty, since they have heard so much about peace, security, compassion, friendship, justice, grace, honesty and moderateness. These are all words of truth, but in times of war, they are used to express falsehoods. - - - "The Perfect Muslim is Gentle with His Fellow Believer and Harsh Towards His Enemy, the Infidel" - - - -

12) 300,000 Supporters of Suicide Attacks in America
FRONTPAGE MAGAZINE - By Robert Spencer - May 30, 2007Some of the results of the Pew Research Center poll of Muslims in America were startling: twenty-six percent of Muslims between the ages of eighteen and twenty-nine affirmed that there could be justification in some (unspecified) circumstances for suicide bombing, and five percent of all the Muslims surveyed said that they had a favorable view of Al-Qaeda. Given the Pew Center's estimate of 2.35 million Muslims in America, and the total of thirteen percent that avowed a belief that suicide bombings could ever be justified, that's over 300,000 supporters of suicide attacks. And 117,500 supporters of Al-Qaeda. - - -In any case, the implications of this poll are far- reaching. Yet virtually no one is dealing with those implications. The mainstream media generally reported the poll results as indicating that the overwhelming majority of Muslims rejected extremism and were comfortably assimilated into American society, without dealing in detail with those troubling minorities. Headlines in major newspapers included "Poll: Most Muslims seek to adopt American lifestyle"; "Poll: US Muslims Feel Post-9/11 Backlash Despite Moderate Outlook"; "Muslims assimilate better in U.S. than Europe, poll finds"; "U.S. Muslims more content, assimilated than those abroad"; and "Pew Study Sees Muslim Americans Assimilating." Meanwhile, two of the leading Islamic advocacy groups in the United States, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), shrugged off the unpleasant aspects of the poll and stressed its findings about how well assimilated Muslims were. - - - And therein lies the problem. The mainstream media's soothing reports about the poll not only misled the American public about the poll results; they also failed to call American Muslim advocacy groups to account for those results. - - - -

13) Experts warn of threat of terrorist nuclear attacks
AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE - June 12, 2007Security experts from around the world meeting here Monday warned of the threat of a terrorist nuclear attack, and called for renewed efforts to crack down on black market sales of nuclear and radioactive material. "Nuclear terrorism is a global threat that requires a global response," said FBI director Robert Mueller, as he inaugurated an international conference on nuclear terrorism, a component of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT).He described nuclear terrorism as "one of the most dangerous and deadly threats" that nations around the world face. - - -Officials from some 30 nations that signed on to the initiative were present at the Miami conference. The mechanics of assembling a nuclear explosive is relatively easy, experts said. Much more difficult is gaining access to highly enriched uranium or plutonium necessary for the bomb."The laws of supply and demand dictate that someone, somewhere, will provide material to the highest bidder," Mueller said. - - - -

Used Quran for swearing-in, accused of associating with radical groupWORLDNETDAILY - June 8, 2007The Muslim congressman from Minnesota who used a Quran for his swearing-in ceremony now is associating with a Muslim group accused of fomenting violence against Jews and Christians and either should distance himself or resign, say critics. As WND has reported, Ellison also allowed his election supporters to shout, "Allahu Akbar!," the same phrase allegedly used by the 9/11 suicide pilots, and he has confirmed to reporters that "in terms of political agenda items, my faith informs these things." Regarding Ellison's speech last month at the Muslim American Society's annual conference in Minneapolis, Joe Kaufman, founder of Americans Against Hate, warned, "This is of grave concern." - - -The group said just days ago, Ellison gave the keynote address in front of the Muslim American Society of Minnesota at the group's fourth annual convention. 15) The Big Thought Is Missing in National Security
NEW YORK TIMES - By G. Pascal Zachary - July 1, 2007WHY has the pace of fundamental innovation in military technologies slowed? Why, six years after 9/11, is there no mega-research project - along the lines of the crash Manhattan Project that 62 years ago produced the first atomic bombs - to address the plausible security threats to the United States in the 21st century? - - -In the 1970s, many scientists and engineers, disenchanted with the Vietnam War, turned away from military problems. And in 1991, the breakup of the Soviet Union took away the mirror-image rival that American innovators could "race" against.Today the leading technologies are hatched by commercial companies pursuing lucrative and large civilian markets. "The U.S. government and its defense partners no longer are at the leading edge of most of the militarily-relevant technologies, having been displaced by international commercial industries and markets," the Defense Science Board, an adviser to the Pentagon comprised of independent experts, concluded in a February report to the top brass entitled "21st Century Strategic Technology Vectors." How did the military, which spends a great deal of money on research and development, get into the position of having to play catch-up in technological innovation? - - - -

16) Germany: Terror Threat Is on the Rise
ASSOCIATED PRESS - By David Mchugh - June 22, 2007BERLIN - The threat of a terrorist attack against Germans in Afghanistan-or even suicide bombings in Germany itself-appears to be on the rise in recent days, officials said Friday. German officials compared the current situation to that before the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in the United States, citing a "mosaic" of clues and previous attacks. Germany has some 3,000 troops and several reconnaissance jets as part of the international security force in Afghanistan. Three German Islamic radicals, believed to be part of a group of 10 people trained to carry out suicide bombings, were arrested in Pakistan, said Joerg Ziercke, head of the Federal Crime Office, the German equivalent of the FBI. He gave few details of the arrests but said the suspects were young Germans who had converted to Islam. However, a Pakistani official said one was Kazakh. "There are indications that terrorist structures in the region of Afghanistan and Pakistan have gained strength and are capable of acting," Christian-Guenter Sachs, an Interior Ministry spokesman, said at a news conference. "We have information that persons from Europe, from Germany, are involved in these structures." - - -"There are increasing pieces of information, from our own services, from friendly services, indications from the Pakistan-Afghanistan region which permit conclusions that the danger level, as I have also laid out, is high for German interests," he said. "There is also a dangerous dimension, for example from suicide attackers, in the direction of Germany." - - - -

18) The Islamisation of Malaysia
World Evangelical Alliance Religious Liberty Commission (WEA RLC)Special to ASSIST News Service - By Elizabeth Kendal - June 7, 2007AUSTRALIA -- This is an extended posting in two parts.First there is an examination of the 30 May 2007 ruling in Malaysia's Federal Court that finally and officially severs Malaysia's Muslims from their fundamental and constitutional right to religious freedom (Article 11 of Malaysia's Constitution) and shackles them to Sharia (Islamic Law, which prohibits apostasy: "The Prophet [Mohammed] said, 'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.' " Bukhari:V4B52N260).Secondly there is an examination of the Islamisation of Malaysia."Sharia" is spelled variously through this posting as I have elected to retain the spelling in the various articles rather than standardise it.We must now ask: Is Malaysia essentially an Islamic state that is in the process of bringing its citizens and institutions and even eventually its minorities into submission to the Sharia (which is the constitution of political Islam)? Fundamentalist Muslims have successfully appealed to Sharia to protect Muslim Malaysia from apostasy. So will they now also be able to appeal to Sharia to protect Muslim Malaysia from "blasphemy" and "indecency"? And if as it appears, Islam, openness, liberty and progressive modernity cannot travel together, then where is Malaysia headed now? - - - -Read Full Report Posted on the Be Alert! Blog

21) US: What Are Islamic Schools Teaching?
NEW YORK SUN - By Daniel Pipes - March 29, 2007"Shocked" is how Aisha Sherazi, principal of the Abraar Islamic school in Ottawa, described the reaction of the school's administration and board on learning last week that two of its teachers had incited hatred of Jews. And "shocked" was how Mumtaz Akhtar, president of the Muslim-Community Council of Ottawa-Gatineau, described his own reaction to the front-page news about the Abraar school. But they may have been the only two persons on the planet to be "shocked" to learn that teachers at an Islamic school are promoting anti-Semitism or other aspects of the Islamist agenda. The fact is, inquiries into Islamic schools repeatedly discover just such a radical Islamic outlook. Some examples:- New York City: An investigation by the New York Daily News in 2003 found that books used in the city's Muslim schools "are rife with inaccuracies, sweeping condemnations of Jews and Christians, and triumphalist declarations of Islam's supremacy."- Los Angeles: The Omar Ibn Khattab Foundation donated 300 Korans (titled The Meaning of the Holy Quran) to the city school district in 2001 that within months had to be pulled from school libraries because of its anti-Semitic commentaries. One footnote reads: "The Jews in their arrogance claimed that all wisdom and all knowledge of Allah was enclosed in their hearts. --- Their claim was not only arrogance but blasphemy."- Ajax, Ontario, 50 kilometers east of Toronto: The Institute of Islamic Learning is a Canadian emulation of the extremist Deobandi madrassahs of Pakistan. It focuses exclusively on religious topics, has students memorize the Koran, demands total segregation from the Canadian milieu, and requires complete gender separation. Former students complained about the school's cult-like devotion to its head, Abdul Majid Khan, and complained that it is a "twisted religion."Then there are four leading Islamic schools in the Washington, D.C. area: - - - -Read Full Report Posted on the Be Alert! REUTERS - By Todd Melby - June 13, 2007MINNEAPOLIS - - - The commission that runs the Minneapolis airports in May began enforcing a new policy allowing it to revoke the licenses of drivers who refuse to ferry passengers carrying alcohol -- something that has happened to 4,854 travelers trying to get a cab at Minneapolis International Airport in the last five years."The increased penalties appear to have brought drivers into compliance," airport spokesman Patrick Hogan said of the policy -- a 30-day license suspension for a first infraction and a two-year license revocation for a second. - - -Ahmed Rehab, executive director of the Chicago office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said the drivers are using a "strict and rigid" interpretation of Islamic law. - - -Grappling with the issue of alcohol is a new phenomenon to many U.S. Muslims, said Abdi Ismail Samatar, a University of Minnesota professor, adding that Somali and other Muslim immigrants may not have even encountered alcohol before."When I was growing up in East Africa in a Muslim community, I heard of alcohol but I never (saw) what it looked like until I came to the United States," he said.In a statement on its Web site, the Islamic Center of Minnesota seems to offer believers contradictory advice. It notes that the Koran prohibits believers to "sell, carry or profit" from alcohol, but adds that in "certain situations" Muslims may "do things which are forbidden based on the doctrine of necessity." - - - It is a "personal interpretation (of the Koran) more than anything else."Eltayeb Osman, a Muslim cabbie from Sudan, has negotiated his own rules for driving passengers who carry alcohol. He'll do it, but with certain restrictions."Put it in the trunk, put it in your hand, whatever," Osman said. "I don't need to touch it myself."

23) Muslim students seek clerics' jihad advice
THE AUSTRALIAN - By Richard Kerbaj - June 5, 2007AUSTRALIAN Muslim university students eager to become jihadis are regularly seeking advice from Islamic spiritual leaders in the hope of winning religious approval to travel overseas and fight.Leaders have warned that the obsession among some young Muslims to become holy warriors was also driving them to "shop around" for fatwas - religious rulings - should their initial request be turned down. Moderate Sydney-based Islamic cleric Khalil Shami said young Muslims, "predominantly university students", frequently asked his advice on travelling to war-torn countries to fight in the name of Islam. This comes two years after hardline Islamic university students were involved in the London bombings that killed 52 people and injured 700 others. - - - -

24) CAIR membership plummets
THE WASHINGTON TIMES - June 11, 2007Membership in the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has declined more than 90 percent since the 2001 terrorist attacks, Audrey Hudson will report in Tuesday's editions of The Washington Times. According to tax documents obtained by The Times, the number of reported members spiraled down from more than 29,000 in 2000 to less than 1,700 in 2006, a loss of membership that caused the Muslim rights group's annual income from dues to drop from $732,765 in 2000, when yearly dues cost $25, to $58,750 last year, when the group charged $35. The organization instead is relying on about two dozen individual donors a year to contribute the majority of the money for CAIR's budget, which reached nearly $3 million last year. - - - -
